Make 2012 Lenny's Year
With the November issue, Midwest Gaming & Travel launches its campaign to
have Lenny Frome inducted into the Gaming Hall of Fame.
Every year since 1989, gaming professionals have honored colleagues who
have distinguished themselves through significant contributions to the
industry with induction into the Gaming Hall of Fame. Among the ranks of
past inductees are such gaming pioneers as Benny Binion, Sam Boyd, Barron
Hilton and William Harrah, and visionaries like Jack Binion, Don Laughlin,
Craig H. Neilsen and Steve Wynn. All have had exemplary careers and are
fitting representatives of the best of the gaming industry. One important name however, is missing from the hallowed walls of the
Gaming Hall of Fame at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. That name is
Lenny Frome, the Godfather of Video Poker.
For those who knew him, Lenny was a friend and mentor. For those who read
his books and articles, he was a diligent and perseverant instructor.
Those who will learn about Lenny in the Lenny Frome section of the
November issue of Midwest Gaming & Travel, will see why his name should
join those listed above. Lenny Frome was first and foremost, by
self-proclamation, the “PlayersPal.”
Every year the American Gaming Association solicits nominations, and then
AGA staff and members of the Board of Directors make the final selections
for induction into the Gaming Hall of Fame.
Right now, we have the unique opportunity to posthumously thank Lenny for
all he did. And that’s where you can come in. Today, we can speak as one,
we can tell the AGA that Lenny Frome should be among the other giants of
the industry honored in the Gaming Hall of Fame. Together we can do it.
Together we can make 2012 “Lenny’s Year.”
